My clients wanted a "whimsical" gate. Their location on the Alsea River guided my figurative design choices. I also had to keep the small dogs in the yard and work within a tight budget. Local glass artists provided the rondels and glass beads. Another example of an accelerated rust finish.

Capri Architects designed this house in Newport for their growing family. They commissioned me to fabricate the louvers that greet visitors at the front of the house and wrap around the back and into the dining area. The location on the Newport Bayfront will make this unexpected explosion of color an iconic landmark for visitors and locals alike.

These projects were fabricated in cold-rolled steel and the rust finish was accelerated with a mixture of vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and salt. This was applied for a week and finished with a clear lacquer.
